hello everyone, it’s gordon. i made the move to boston to go to emerson college a few months ago, and while the skate scene here is thriving and pretty epic, i still miss the shelter.
tonight was the big habitat skate jam at the chinatown courts. all of the big guns came out and sat on the bleachers while all the weekend warriors of massachusetts did nollie tre flips. if you’re ever in boston and strapped for some gear, go to the orchard, the guys over there are really nice and they’ll treat you right. they hooked it up with some great skate obstacles, for instance, the main attraction was a slab of granite placed on top of some milk cartons. ain’t nothin like the granite back home but you know, nobody’s perfect. anyway, great fun was had and lots of shredding and benihanas went down. mandatory trick remembrance: steve durante was in the house, and he did a really nice switch frontside heelflip over a barrier.
after the skate jam, everyone headed to the other side cafe for the static 3 premiere. the video was great, and the shelter’s own curtis rapp closed the curtains on the friends section with some excellent maneuvers. there was a good amount of albany footage in the video. there was also a good amount of 16mm shots of buildings. actually there were a whole lot of 16mm shots of buildings.
you’d think that the excitement stopped there, but you know, city life is so exciting and everything, long story short the red sox smashed the native americans and the city is currently going bonkers outside my window. i hope everyone back home is doing well, groms practice your kickflips, c.b. and trev save me some gear to come up on when i get home, cam and owen hold the park down, damon hold it down with mookie on the block, curt stay famous, bova i’ll see you soon, hair stay up and stay shred, armin shine on 90 was epic, phillips stay crushin in portland, and marshall i know you’re killing it right now. damn, shout outs galore, i just blew up the spot, can’t post on this for another few months. shoot me an email : gordon_hendrick@emerson.edu
